Planning 'It's Good To Talk'
When planning our 'It's Good To Talk' interview, we were asked to consider cutaways, props, mise en scene and an interviewee to feature. We decided to use a background that was either plain or had some sort of technology in the background to link in with the topic of phones. We planned to interview Hannah Simmons and have her read the questions beforehand so we could get an idea of what her answers would be, to then plan the cutaways that would seperate each answer. When asked of the phones she had had in the past, we planned to have a cutaway of a pan of her phones in a line. We also planned to have cutaways of students in the common room using their phones from a distance and then zooming in on them. We also planned to have cutaways of different features of the phone in use, for instance texts and blackberry messages. We planned to situate her on the right side of the rule of thirds with her eye line conventionally slightly away from the camera looking at the interviewer.
The storyboard we originally planned to guide us whilst filming our interview was this one:
However, we realised that our interview was going to lack a range of cutaways and did not require credits at the end and therefore planned a new one.
